Harlikins are robots with the most advanced artificial intelligence and medical technologies in Trapenia. All hospitals in Trapenia have a few halikins, but Harris Hospital is the only hospital in Trapeñia heavily staffed by harlikins.

Harlikins at Harris Hospital

Each harlikin is designed for specific duties in the hospital. Each harlikin contain a database that holds information for every disease known on Trapeñia, including signs, symptoms, virulence factors, pathogenesis, and treatment. Harlikins also track patients' information throughout the hospital. Harlikins are to date the greatest advancement in robotics technology for the field of medicine. Since the development of harlikins, there is a much lower mortality rate in the hospitals, which is attributed to their presence and utility as hopsital helpers. There is one harlikin for each patient’s room, so patients are constantly monitored.

There are may types of harlikins, specialized for each wing of the hospital. For instance, the harlikins care for all babies in the neonatal unit. The neonatal wing in the hospital is very different from other neonatal units in other hospitals. At Harris, this specific unit is designed to give babies a head start on learning by stimulating their mind, body, and eyes. The incubator that every baby is kept in is very warm and makes many different motions and vibrates. There is also many different colors in the room and music playing to help stimulate the bay’s minds at a very young age. No conditioning is done here but many babies that have gone through this unit have been reaching many milestones at younger ages.

Harlikins in medical research

There are also harlikins that aid physicians and other scientists in medical research and development. They are able to take samples from lab animals and process that given sample to help with finding cures. For instance, a harlikin would be tasked with directly interacting with the Pryn insect that can carry highly infectious and deadly disease, Hyphulus, thus sparing human researchers direct contact with the insect and the pathogen it carries. These research harlikins are much different from the general-purpose harlikins in the patients' rooms because the research harlikins are dedicated specifically for research activities, whereas the harlikins in the patients' rooms act more as databases for diseases to quickly help patients and assist doctors and nurses.
